Centenary
Celebrations to reflect our aims and ethos

Friendship, faith and family will be the major themes driving the celebration of our Association's Centenary year which begins in May 2008.

As far as the UK is concerned we will celebrate with a national Mass in Westminster Cathedral and regional ones in such splendid venues as York Minster, Lichfield Cathedral and at St Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh. We will fulfil our aim of helping youth by running our first ever National Public Speaking Competition for Catholic Sixth Formers. We will fulfil our role of being proud to stand up for our faith by holding a number of Centenary lectures at which authoritative and gifted speakers will address aspects of Catholic teaching that are threatened by increasing secularism and legislation which denies freedom of conscience.

There will also be a Formal Gala Dinner in Guildhall in the presence of HE Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor.

It is envisaged that similar events which reflect these different aspects of the Catenian Association's aims and ethos will also be arranged by local Catenians in Australia, Malta, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
