Yet another cheque presented by local Catenians to a needy cause.
Charitable Giving

The Catenian Association does not claim to be a money-raising organisation. In spite of this it is estimated that its members raise over £3/4 million a year for the Benevolent Fund for its own members and their dependants; the Bursary Fund, which helps young Catholics help others; and for a host of other good causes at home and abroad chosen annually by incoming Circle Presidents. In addition, when individual Brothers are involved with other fund raising efforts for charities they hold dear, they look to their Brothers for support and invariably receive a generous response.

Apart from the two charitable funds, the Association does not normally officially support any specific charity, preferring to leave the application of such funds to the discretion of those at a local level who raise them. However, on two occasions the Association has leant its name to appeals on behalf of the jumbulances which are a familiar sight ferrying to Lourdes those too ill to fly.
